I) Faculties and Departments
b) The Technical Faculty
1) Research and Teaching
In accordance with the basic principles of the Nihal European University in Sudan the application of knowledge will play a special role in the Technical Faculty. Since the university plans to have close contacts with industry, it seems important to have such a focus. Students in the Technical Faculty of the Nihal European University in Sudan will be trained at the highest international level.
The following foci can be derived from the degree programmes of the individual fields:
- The Department of Agricultural Sciences
Agricultural technology and engineering - The Department of Environmental Engineering
Environmental engineering and environmental protection, sewage engineering, hydraulic engineering and supply - The Department of Media Studies and Communication Design
Media informatics, media pedagogy, communication science - The Department of Informatics
Theoretical, practical and engineering informatics
By means of its basic orientation teaching in the Technical Faculty should provide students with the skills necessary for successful activity throughout the course of their professional lives. It will not be limited to the teaching of up-to-date content, but will focus on instruction in theoretically-informed concepts and methods that will outlast current trends to the greatest extent possible.
The training of students should thus convey the basic principles, concepts and methods of technology. After completing their training students should be able to complete tasks in varying fields under technical, economic and social basic conditions, applying the methods they have learned. They should thus be able to develop appropriate systems and lead projects. In addition they should be able to apply the concepts and methods they have acquired to future developments.
Besides technical competence our graduates should develop the skills to communicate to others their ideas, methods and results and to work as part of a team. They should have the capacity to acquire the language and concepts of non-technicians and non-specialists in order to work with them across the boundaries of their expertise. In matters of professional practice they should be able to make concepts and applications comprehensible to laypersons.
