g) The Committees

For fulfilling its duties the Senate can form advisory and non-advisory committees, the members of which will come from its own ranks and the majority of whom must be professors or lecturers. Standing committees will be a Committee for Research Questions, a Committee for Teaching and Continuing Education and a Committee for Communication and Information.

 

1) The Committee for Research Questions

The task of the standing Committee for Research Questions is to advise the Executive Staff and Senate in all questions concerning the promotion and development of the research profile of the university. In particular this includes expert opinions on applications for research projects and the formation of institutes and centres as well as developing and rendering expert opinions on research projects for junior scholars.

This committee will as a rule be led by the Prorector for Research Questions. In addition the Prorector for Economic and Technical Affairs will be a regular member of the committee on account of his office. As for other scholarly members there should be equal representation from each of the faculties.

Expert persons or disciplinary experts can be consulted by the Committee or its chair at any time.

 

2) The Committee for Teaching and Continuing Education

For counselling the Executive Staff and the Senate in all questions of teaching and the development of the teaching profile of the Nihal European University in Sudan a standing committee of the Senate will be formed. Among its tasks will be the founding, change or elimination of degree programmes or continuing education offering as well as assistance in formulating the regular evaluations of research and teaching in cooperation with the Scientific Advisory Board.

This committee will as a rule be led by the Prorector for Teaching. In addition the Prorector for Economic and Technical Affairs will be a regular member of the committee on account of his office. As for other scholarly members there should be equal representation from each of the faculties.

3) The Committee for Communication and Information

The duty of the standing Committee for Communication and Information is to counsel the Executive Staff and Senate in all questions of the informational structure of the university. This includes the library, electronic communications, news technology and archival holdings.

This committee will as a rule be led by the Vice-President. In addition the Prorector for Economic and Technical Affairs will be a regular member of the committee on account of his office as well as the director of the university library, the director of the Central Office for University Infrastructure and the director of the computing centre. As for other scholarly members there should be equal representation from each of the faculties.
