VII) The Computing Centre
From the start the Computing Centre will be a central facility in the university infrastructure on account of its elementary significance, which nowadays includes computing and the Internet in the everyday academic and office life and the worldwide distribution of information and communication.
Its primary duty will be to provide counsel in all matters which emerge in connection with the use of computers and the Internet, in the acquisition and university administration of software licenses and in the setting up and maintenance of the internal data network of the university and its link with the Internet including protection of the network from external attacks. It will also train members of the university in handling computers and the Internet and in making available central PC workstations which can be used by members of the university for both training and work (PC-pools).
As soon as the relevant financial resources are available, the Computer Centre will also install and maintain a system of servers which will operate the Internet presence of the university and its facilities as well as the email-traffic of university members.
