Concept – Part C: Educational Principles and the Profile of the Nihal European University in Sudan
II) The Profile of the Nihal European University in Sudan
c) Languages
At the Nihal European University in Sudan the essential language of instruction should be English. By the same token the language for internal administration and communications should also be English. Official correspondence of the university and its constitutive units with persons from outside the university can be conducted in other languages dependent upon circumstances.
In case of disciplinary peculiarities, individual courses do not have to have English as the language of instruction. Examples would include offerings in the Department of Linguistics; these could then be taught in the language which is preferred in the discipline in question.
The Language Learning Institute of the Nihal European University in Sudan will take over an essential function in the instruction, development and maintenance of multilingualism. It will particularly provide the preparatory study in foreign languages as well as accompanying language courses prescribed in all degree programmes.
