Concept – Part C: Educational Principles and the Profile of the Nihal European University in Sudan
II) The Profile of the Nihal European University in Sudan
e) Cultural Objectives – Domestic and Foreign
Along with other renowned universities the Nihal European University in Sudan will endeavour to become a cultural factor in the Khartoum area and the Sudan. The Nihal European University in Sudan should also be able to take on such a position in Europe in the longer term. As proposed in this report the Institute for Cultural Pluralism and Intercultural Communication, the Institute for Culture Indigenous to the Sudan and the Department of Linguistics should assume a significant role in these efforts.
A precondition for this is that the university will be active beyond research and teaching and will be perceived as a presence in the regional, national and international spheres by means of colloquia, lecture series, readings, concerts, theatre productions and film screenings.
For these reasons we shall strive to build or to lease suitable premises closer to the city of Omdurman and / or Khartoum. The grounds of the school that already exists in Omdurman may also prove useful for this purpose.
